Some changes have been made by Ferguson for this game. Anders Lindergaad replace De Gea as a goalkeeper. Phil Jones and Johnny Evans together on the central defender. As usual Patrice Evra on the left while Antonio Valencia in the right defense. Anderson and Fletcher together in the central midfield. Nani on the right wing, while Park Ji-sung on the left wing replacing the injured Ashley Young. While in attack led by Rooney and Hernandez.
Manchester United launched an attack from the start, but disappointed by the defensive tactics adopted by Norwich City.United looks depressed in the first half when each movement was broken by Norwich City. Instead Norwich City several times threat united goal through the counter-attack, but disappointed by the bluntness of their attack machine.
Ferguson made changes in the second half, bring Gigg and Welbeck replacing Nani and Hernandez on 65 minute. Finally, United have scored the first goal by Anderson on 68 minute. A Giggs corner was headed back in at the far-post by Rooney, and the Brazilian midfielder rose unmarked to nod the ball past John Ruddy and two defenders on the goal-line.
After United goal, Norwich back to threat United goal and sparked another change from Ferguson, who brought on Rio Ferdinand for Anderson which meant shifting the exposed Valencia up the pitch and moving Jones out to right-back. And as Norwich pushed more men forwards in search of an equaliser, it was almost inevitable that the champions would find gaps in the defence. With two minutes to go, United broke through Rooney, and his pass put Ji-Sung Park clear, before the Korean unselfishly squared for Welbeck to apply the finishing touch.
